Job Description
Radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing and treating diseases using medical imaging technologies.
Typical Responsibilities
1. Interpretation of Imaging Studies
- X-Rays
- Ultrasound
- CT Scans
- MRI
- Mammography
- Doppler Studies
2. Perform Interventional Procedures (as per training & hospital type)
- FNAC, Biopsies
- Drainage procedures
- Image-guided interventions
3. Reporting & Clinical Coordination
- Prepare accurate radiology reports on time
- Discuss findings with referring clinicians
- Participate in clinical decision-making
4. Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure radiation and patient safety during procedures
- Monitor imaging equipment & follow QA protocols
- Maintain proper documentation and PACS/RIS systems
5. Teaching (If in teaching hospitals)
- Guide junior doctors, residents, and technicians
6. On-Call / Emergency Duties
- Participate in night duties or emergency radiology services
Eligibility Criteria
A. MD Radiology
- MBBS + NEET PG
- 3-year postgraduate degree
B. DNB Radiology
- MBBS + NEET PG
- 3-year residency program
- Government/NMC equivalent to MD
C. DMRD
- MBBS + Entrance exam
- 2-year diploma in Radio-diagnosis
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of CT, MRI, USG, X-ray interpretation
- Expertise in PACS/RIS & digital reporting tools
- Ultrasound proficiency (Abdomen, Obs/Gyn, vascular, small parts)
- Knowledge of radiation safety & contrast protocols
Clinical Skills
- Strong clinical correlation & decision-making
- Interventional radiology exposure (optional)
- Ability to handle emergencies efficiently
Soft Skills
- Good communication with clinicians & patients
- Attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Time management in high-volume centers
- Ability to work under pressure and night duties
